JIU-JITSU ADDED TO ANNUAL TRAINING
As another year of annual training gets ready to begin we are pleased to announce that Jiu-Jitsu will be returning to the program. This time we are honored to have one of the best grapplers in the world, Felipe Zicro Neto. From Brazil, the home of Jiu-Jitsu, Felipe is a 3rd Degree Black Belt. With many titles and championships to his credit he is considered one of the best in the world. His school is located in Tallahassee and his website; http://www.zicrobjj.com/ will tell you more. He will be coming to MTF once a week to work with all the members 80's to Pro's.
MTF strives to provide the absolute best in training both on and off the track. We believe Jiu-Jitsu will only add to the program and help strengthen our members mentally and physically. The heart rate ranges you will experience during an intense grappling session will be higher than possible with more traditional methods like running and cycling. What makes it harder still is the added effort of having to focus and think much like a game of chess while your heart rate is elevated, and always trying to stay two to three steps ahead of your opponent while trying to anticipate the next move. This is especially tough when your heart is racing. With Jiu-Jitsu the breathing and concentration is very similar to what’s happening on the track. If we can drill these principles to the point where they become instinct then, on the track when mistakes happen and the heart rate jumps up, our riders won’t think twice about what to do. The instinct will be there and will be automatic.
Also, the iso-metric training of grappling is very similar to the bike. Fighting to maintain the offensive position is vital to both sports and the core strength developed with Jiu-Jitsu translates to motocross as well. Grip strength is another benefit gained from grappling. The same way you are forced to squeeze the bike with your hands and legs is exactly the same as the most important position in Jiu-Jitsu, the 'Guard'. All this plus the added intensity of one on one competition and the controlled aggression are the pieces we are looking for.
Our goal is to make our riders as tough as possible in the safest environment possible.

It has by far raised the bar on my training. The cardo, strength, agility, endurance and focus involved in a jiu Jitsu grappling session has peaked my perfomance on the track to a completely different level.
