MINI-O'S MOTOCROSS WRAP UP

Joey Savatgy crashed hard and DNF’d his first moto of the day and it looked for a while like he might be done, leaving the door open for others to take the national titles he’d been working so hard to win. But  Joey showed he has some toughness to go with his prodigious skills on a bike and, after skipping the schoolboy 14-16 class, he remounted for the 250B mod and Youth 12-16 finals and with a 2nd and a 1st won both championships  despite hurting all over and a very sore shoulder. With his three supercross titles Joey won five for the week and made a clear statement that he should  be considered one of the elite amateur riders in motocross.

Brad Allison won three titles for the week, adding two more in the motocross portion Saturday. He rode to moto wins in the 250C stock and open C mod classes and took a 2nd overall in the Open C stock and a 4th overall in the 250C mod. His effort for the week was recognized with the Scott Golden Goggle award which goes to the outstanding C rider at the championships. Congratulations Brad.
MTF’s other winner Saturday was Cooper Webb who won both motos in the 85 12-13 stock class and took 1st overall over Adam Cianciarulo and Jesse Masterpool. Cooper also took a 2nd in the mod class.
The relentless progression of Dakota Alix continues as he came oh so close to three titles taking 2nd overall in three classes, 85 14-15 stock and mod and supermini 2. Dakota rode as well as he has ever ridden, with passion and aggression, and he will surely build on this week.
Kyle Peters podiumed in the youth 12-16 and 250B stock with a 2nd and a 3rd rounding off a great year for the globetrotting North Carolinian. Kyle won races in Belgium and Australia in 2009 and he will be looking for great things next year as well.
Gavin Faith also had a great week considering he has only recently begun full time training at MTF after finishing up high school in Iowa. Racing in the A class Gavin rode to four top ten finishes to add to his remarkably consistent supercross campaign where he stood on the box in every class he entered,  three 3rds  and a 2nd in the Open A Pro/Am stock class.

Other top ten finishers in motocross were Jordon Smith: 9th, 8th 4th in the 85 12-13 classes and supermini  1 and Matt Beverly, 8th in the open C mod.
Other MTF riders, most getting their first taste of a national, were Paul Coates, Konnor Buffis ,Chris Dumphy, Charlie Miller, Anthony Rodriguez, Wilder Ruffin and Desmond Ruffin.

Congratulations to everybody who competed and see you back at MTF for Winter Am’s training.
