BREAKOUT RIDE FOR DAVALOS

A breakout ride for Martin Davalos #37 in Atlanta as he secured a career best 5th in the 450SX. Even so it could have been better as Martin was running 2nd all night and could taste a first big bike podium. But Justin Barcia passed him on lap 20 and Tomac and Webb slid by on the last lap. Despite this Martin says he is ready for more,

“obviously I’m upset because we all work so hard. Third place would have been incredible. But at the end of the day, I didn’t wash the front end. I was able to keep it on two wheels. I’ve wanted to be up there for so long. Last weekend I crashed every single main event, but I showed a lot of speed. Today just came to the race, we sat down. Let’s just stay on two wheels. Let’s just ride strong on the bike. I think those guys have a little more fitness, more experience to run. I used to do fifteen laps. Now we’re doing 25 laps. So it’s a huge, huge thing that you can only get that experience when you do it at a race pace”.

Jordon Smith #54 also rode his best race of the season so far with a 4th place in the main leaving him in 5th place for the championship. Jordon qualified in 7th, came 2nd in his heat race, got a good start and rode smoothly in the main.

Jordan Bailey qualified 15th, made the main with a 7th in his heat and finished 12th overall. Jordan lies in 11th place in the 250SX East championship.

Next up Daytona.
